High Adventure Update: We got a 2nd Philmont slot!

Posted on Jan 18 2024 - 9:37am
Philmont
We had a full 12-persons crew sign up for Philmont. We did win another slot for the second hiking trek, so this means we must have at least 3-4 adults, over 21, on each crew, so we need more adults. Parents this is a great opportunity to see your son develop in so many ways with you just observing, just step back and let it happen on the trail!  We have opened registration up again.

Seabase
Registration for 2025 treks opens on January 18. There are many possible adventures to choose from. Some treks that the troop has done in the past include: scuba, coral reef sailing, and outer island adventures.  Each of these require 6 to 8 persons. Anyone interested in Seabase for 2025 should go to the troop website under event registration and show the adventure you are interested in and we will need some parents to go as well. This should be done before Jan 1, 2024  We will have a meeting on Jan 8 at 6:15PM in Rm 2 of scouts and parents to decide which adventure we want to register for on Jan 18 (that registration will require a nonrefundable deposit at that time).

If you have questions, contact Mike Reisinger and he can answer them for you.

Zach Garfield Eagle Project Workdays (Jan 4, 5, 6 and 7) and Fundraising

Posted on Jan 4 2024 - 8:19pm

My name is Zach Garfield and I’m a senior at JJ Pearce High School. I am a Life Scout in Troop 1001, and currently I’m working on my Eagle Scout Project for the benefit of Pearce High School. My project will entail building 5 picnic tables for an outdoor learning space in the courtyard at school, along with flattening the soil and laying down gravel.

My workdays will be this Thursday through Sunday (January 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th).  Please sign up for a shift (or several) on my Signup Genius by clicking ZACHWORKDAYS

The funds I raise will be used for purchasing materials such as wood, sandpaper, stain, gravel, bolts/screws, snacks for volunteers, and transportation. If I have funds left over when I finish my project, I will donate them to Student Government to help with the renovation of the courtyard. I would greatly appreciate it if everyone could pitch in and help make this project a reality.  The link to my fundraising site is HERE

Winter camp registration EXTENDED. We need more scouts to attend camp.

Posted on Dec 14 2023 - 10:27pm

Scouts and Scouters, we have extended the Winter Camp registration to 6 PM, Wednesday, December 20.

At this time we do not have enough scouts registered to make this winter camp feasible.  We need several more scouts to register.  This is by far the easiest and most fun way to earn your merit badges and have an AWESOME weekend with all your scout friends (in nice, warm cabins instead of tenting at other winter camp options).  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Michelle Jackson or Amber Braunreiter and they can explain it all to you.

It is a two step registration process:

NEW: We added a new class to Saturday afternoon! Thank you, Ms. Ogden, for teaching American Heritage.
