Hudson Strub Eagle Project Fundraising

Posted on Nov 1 2024 - 9:33am
My name is Hudson Strub, and I am starting to fundraise for my Eagle Project! We will be building benches for the Nexus Women's Recovery Center, a rehab center for women struggling with substance abuse, where they can live with their children.

I am planning to build four benches, two for the onsite daycare's playground, and two for the grass area between the dorms where children play when the daycare is closed. The goal is to make them sturdy, but lightweight so they can be moved and serve multiple needs. I would greatly appreciate any financial support to help bring the project to life. You can see details and donate at this link: GoFundMe link

Thank you!

Troop 1001 Parent (Committee) monthly meeting notes for October 2024

Posted on Oct 31 2024 - 3:09pm

Our monthly meeting is for EVERYONE (which is EVERY ADULT with a scout or a role in the troop). Unfortunately, we typically have a very low percentage of our adults in attendance for these critical meetings. Please make it a priority to attend.  ===> Click "read more" below for the notes in their entirety (or click HERE for archived pdf file if you prefer).

ASK Your SCOUT about everything going on in the troop

Posted on Oct 31 2024 - 2:37pm

Did you know it's POPCORN season?

  • Not going camping this weekend? SELL POPCORN! It's not too late.
  • We have about $5,810 (234 bags) left in inventory and are selling for a few more weeks. You must register in the Trails End app to sell with the troop.
    • All store front times are available NOW.
    • For door to door wagon sales or any popcorn questions, reach out to our KERNAL Elise Wincorn (917-328-5716)
  • This is a GREAT way for your scout to help pay their way to any troop campout including high adventures.

Is their uniform properly patched?

  • Is their patrol patch on their uniform? Everyone should have a patrol patch by now. If not, have your scout ASK THEIR PATROL LEADER
  • If they hold a leadership position, is their current position patch on their uniform?
    • If they are interested in leadership and at least 13, they can take Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) on 11/9/24. (More info below)
  • Is their rank patch up to date?

Are they interested in going on a high adventure?

  • We now only have 3 open spots for Scuba in 2025, so hurry and get signed up so you don't miss out - Must be 13 and medical restrictions do apply so read up before saying YES
  • Be on the look out for a survey for the 2026 opportunities

2024 NYLT Course: December 26-31 at Camp Wisdom

Posted on Oct 31 2024 - 2:36pm
Circle Ten 2024 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) winter courses, Sessions 5 & 6.

As you may know, NYLT is a national-level BSA leadership course conducted at the council level. It is an action-packed course designed to provide Scouts BSA, Venturing and SeaScouts with leadership skills and experiences Scouts can use in their scouting unit and in future life experiences that demand leadership of self and others.

Sessions 5 & 6 will run concurrently from Thursday, December 26 through Tuesday, December 31 at historic Camp Wisdom in Dallas. Two highly trained and experienced staffs led by a youth course lead will deliver a program centered around leadership and team building competencies from a syllabus which incorporates the latest leadership concepts and presents fresh, vital, meaningful training for today’s Scouts. The Wood Badge trained adult staffs will provide safety, supervision and set the example for modeling the role of adults in the Scouting program.

The ideal NYLT participant is one who exhibits emotional maturity, a positive attitude and an openness to learning how to be a better leader while having FUN! Scouts should complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) or Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews (ILSC) prior to attending.

Registration is open through December 12 OR until the course fills to capacity at Circle Ten Council - 2024 NYLT - Session 5 & 6. The course is very popular, enrollment is limited and a waiting list is very common.

If you would like additional information or are interested in NYLT, please contact Edward Garcia, Circle 10 NYLT Program Director, at nyltcircleten@gmail.com.
