Winter Camp: Deadline to register extended until this Saturday Dec 21st at 11:59PM

Posted on Dec 19 2024 - 2:03pm
We have our 30 minimum scouts registered for winter camp, but we have extended the registration deadline to Saturday, December 21st, at 11:59 p.m. to allow more scouts to sign up. The more, the merrier!

Please make sure you've registered for winter camp on the troop website, selected your merit badges, and signed up to help with winter camp!

We have quite a few areas where we could use some adult help, please consider teaching a merit badge class or assisting! We also have spots available to come and camp!

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Yours in Scouting,
Cassey and Amy

Derby Day at Erwin Park in McKinney - December 6-8

Posted on Dec 5 2024 - 10:51pm

The always exciting and fun Derby Day at Erwin Park in McKinney will be December 6-8, 2024. The address is Erwin Park - Hilltop Pavilion, 4300 County Road 1006, McKinney, TX 75071.
Important information and tentative schedule:
  • Scouts should arrive at Erwin Park - Hilltop Pavilion (NOT THE CHURCH) on Friday, December 6th by 7:00 PM.   Parents should plan to pick up their scout by 9:30 AM, Sunday, December 8th at Erwin Park - Hilltop Pavilion (4300 Co Rd 1006, McKinney, TX 75071).
  • Scouts need to find their own way to get themselves, their derby car, a bike if wanted, overnight gear, and any games they want to the park and back.
    • The best way to do this is to work with patrol parents to see if there are any trucks that can take gear (specifically the derby car and bikes).
    • Please contact us ASAP if you need assistance.
  • Derby Races will be on Saturday at 8:30AM with practice races beginning beforehand.  Families are welcome to come and cheer on the scouts and we may have visitors.
  • On Saturday, we ARE NOT cooking or eating as a troop, so plan accordingly.
  • Free time activities will include typical outdoor games, lashing activities (chariot race), and optional biking on the nearby trails. Individual families are responsible for transporting their own scouts and bikes.
  • We are welcoming scouts and parents to bring their own outdoor games to contribute to the weekend. Things like cornhole, Kubb, spike ball, or even just plain soccer balls are welcome.

Patrol food cost adjustment: New amount will be $20 (Cash to the Patrol Leader on Money Mondays)

Posted on Dec 5 2024 - 5:13pm

As you know, when the troop goes camping, each scout in each patrol contributes money towards the food that the grubmaster purchases for that patrol to prepare/eat during the campout.  That amount has been set at $15 for many years.  As you also know, we have recently experienced grocery price inflation.  The scouts have asked to increase the amount of money to be contributed for each campout to $20 per scout.  Everything else in the process will remain the same (i.e. the $20 will still need to be in cash [not check/venmo/paypal] and will be given to the Patrol Leader at the Money Monday meeting, preceding the campout/event).
