SIGN UP NOW - Veterans Day Flags In Saturday 11/12

Posted on Nov 10 2016 - 7:27pm
Please immediately sign up Flags In (11/12) for the Veterans Day holiday:

If you are not camping this weekend, WE NEED YOU!!!

Veterans Day was initially known as Armistice Day, and was designated a holiday in 1919 in recognition of the end of World War I. In 1954, Congress changed the name to "Veterans Day", in honor of all Veterans. This year, Veterans day, November 11, will be observed on a Friday
As a result, we will distribute flags the preceding Saturday Nov 05

For the flags program, the troop works with the Canyon Creek Home Owners Association Flag Program to distribute flags for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day. As a result, the troop is able to raise money to help fund activities for the scouts by receiving
a dollar for each flag installed and another dollar for every flag retrieved and stored. We recently increased the number of flags installed & retrieved to 495!  With this increase, Troop 1001 became the largest Boy Scout troop distributing flags, and earning the troop $990.

Please meet at TBC at 09:00 AM to distribute flags on       More after the jump>>>>>

Emergency Preparedness/Hiking Campout-Nov. 11-13, Ft. Richardson SP and Lost Creek State Trailway, Jacksboro

Permission Slip

This campout is oriented towards the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge.  The new scouts through 1st Class will be learning First Aid in the field. The older scouts will be working on the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge, including requirement 8b "Take part in at least one troop Mobilization."  This is not an easy requirement to complete and the troop has been working for 2 years to get everything together to complete it.  Every scout who has not completed the Emergency Prep Merit Badge and anticipates getting their Eagle in the next two years should attend this campout as there will probably not be another chance to compete this requirement for some time. This will be a fun campout for everyone.

The campout will be at historic Ft. Richardson SP  and Lost Creek State Trailway (directions).  In addition to the troop mobilization as part of the Eagle-required EPrep Merit Badge there will be a hike along the adjacent state trailway that circles Lost Creek Reservoir (map of park).

ADULTS: We will need extra help on this campout and drivers willing to commit to the 1:45 hr drive to the park. Please sign up online just as the scouts do. If you can drive, please indicate the number of seats in the 'Notes' section. If you cannot drive scouts, but are going on the campout, please also indicate this in the 'Notes' section.

Money Monday is Nov. 7. Please sign up online ahead of the meeting, bring your signed permission slip and $15 (cash, exact change) patrol food money.

Please arrive at Trinity Bible Church no later than 5:30pm for form-up on Friday, Nov.11. This will be a longer drive than usual for the troop, so we need to leave on time. Check the weather, especially overnight temperatures, so that you can BE PREPARED with appropriate clothing. Don't forget your sack dinner.
