2017 Camp Card sales are Now On!

Posted on Mar 17 2017 - 12:22am

The 2017 Boy Scout Camp Card sales season started a couple of weeks ago and we want as many Troop 1001 scouts to participate as possible between now and the end of the sales drive on May 9th.  Selling camp cards is an easy and risk free way for our scouts to earn monies to help pay for their activities with the Troop.  Scouts earn 50% of all camp cards sales revenues they collect, with proceeds being allocated to their individual accounts where they can be used to pay for summer camp, campout fees, annual dues, high adventure fees, etc.   Any unsold cards can be turned in at the end of the sales drive with no obligation to pay (though all unsold cards MUST be returned to Randy Lawson no later than May 8th.)

Cottonwood Art Festival – Spring 2017

May 4-7, 2017

Richardson’s Cottonwood Art Festival is Troop 1001’s main fundraiser.

The troop makes money 4 ways: 1) tips from the artists, 2) a payment from the city, 3) water sales, and 4) general public donations.

Troop 1001 families are requested to volunteer a minimum of 8 adult hours for each Scout. Scouts can earn service hours after he volunteers 8 hours. The entire Troop is needed to support the Cottonwood Art Festival. Watch for further information coming soon, including a link to Sign-Up Genius.

New 2017 BSA Rank Requirements

Posted on Mar 1 2017 - 1:23pm

The new 2016 Boy Scout requirements are in effect for all scouts as of January 1st, 2017.  Most scouts already transitioned to the new requirements in 2016, but if you still have questions, see the following BSA publications.  Note the handy parallel comparison document.  Patrol leaders will receive copies of this to aid any scouts working on Trail to First Class and need to transfers sign-offs from the old book to the new book.
