Howdy Troop 1001,

Winter Camp is a great opportunity for the Scouts to earn new merit badges and finish up some of those lingering merit badges.  Here are some tips to getting the most from Winter Camp:

This year Troop 1001 will attend summer camp at Camp Cris Dobbins in Colorado the week of June 24th through the 30th.  

Geocaching Merit Badge - Monday Jan 8

In addition to being Money Monday for Winter Camp, the next troop meeting will feature a follow-up to the October Campout.  Mr. Chrisman will be teaching the Geocaching Merit Badge to cover off most of the outstanding requirements.  If you didn’t attend the campout, you can still attend and get a good head start towards completing this merit badge.

First Aid Merit Badge - December 11

The next First Aid MB class is Dec 11.  Those that have made all 3 of the Monday night classes can finish the MB at Winter Camp January 12-14 except for Rqmt 2d, the Home First Aid.

 

Wilderness First Aid

This classes covers how to handle First Aid situations when you are more than an hour from normal EMS respond. This is the 16 hour ECSI course designed by Philmont and meets the requirements for all BSA High Adventure Bases.

University of Scouting - January 6

This is great opportunity to learn more about any topic in Scouting from Cubs to Commissioning.  Over 50 courses in the Boy Scout section alone most 1 hour long so one could take 7 courses in the day.  There will be over 1000 scouters from all over Circle 10 attending on the SMU campus, January 6.  To register see http://circleten.org/university-scouting cost is $30 before Dec 10, includes lunch, commemorative patch,  and course handouts.
