A scout is Thrifty, so jump on this opportunity to save money by registering before October 31st.

Early-Bird Pricing Ends October 31st. What does that mean for me?

Effective November 1, 2022, the price for a Contingent member registering for the Jamboree will increase to $1,500 (14% or $215) due to economic conditions such as fuel, food, and supply issues.

Jamboree is more than a destination. It’s the adventure of lifetime. And there is simply nothing else like it on the planet.

What’s a Jamboree? It’s not camp. National Jamboree is 360-degrees of fun, friends and fellowship with hands-on adventure that takes you places you never thought you’d go and challenge you to try things you never thought you could. It’s the beginning of your own heroes’ journey that will challenge you to go farther than you ever thought possible. You’ll reach deeper and lift yourself higher to become the best version of yourself.

Cottonwood Art Festival Thursday Sep 29 - Sunday Oct 2 - Required: 8 hrs/Scout plus 8 hrs/family - Sign up below!

Posted on Sep 29 2022 - 11:07pm

Michelle McDowell Smith

The time has come for us to prepare for our bi-annual Cottonwood fundraiser taking place Thursday September 29th through Sunday October 2nd at Cottonwood Park on Beltline Road, across from Richardson High School.

This is a major fundraising event for our Troop to help with costs associated with Scouting and to make the best opportunities available to the Scouts.  it also is an opportunity for us to engage with the community, and give back our time to the city and artists.  The requirement for each Scout is to volunteer 8 hours and each family to volunteer 8 hours over the course of the weekend. You can spread these hours over the weekend so you aren't overwhelmed with back-to-back shifts. You are also welcome to work more than your recommended hours, we need all of the help we can get! Any hours after your 8 will go towards rank volunteer hours.

LOGISTICS:

Cottonwood Park is located on the south side of Belt Line Road in Richardson, just east of Coit Road. Parking is available on the north side of Belt Line at Richardson High School, and along the side streets around the park. Please note that the artists arrive via Dumont, on the south side of the park, so parking here may be obstructed. No scout vehicles, other than those of the Cottonwood Committee chairs, will be permitted into the park. If you need handicapped access and parking, please contact Brandon Ainsworth at 214-693-0934 immediately. Please allow adequate time to park and walk to the troop tent when arriving for your shifts. The troop tent is near the south end of the park, across from the swimming pool area. We will be volunteering at the park rain or shine. Dress accordingly. Only if there is lightning within 10 miles are we dismissed from our duties.

COTTONWOOD RULES and REQUIREMENTS

  • Adults - wear class B if you have it, or something comfortable during load in and load out. Adult Scout Leaders - Class A on Saturday and Sunday

7. Mr. Jeff Sharrock is the Scoutmaster. Mr. & Mrs. Ainsworth are the Cottonwood Committee Chairs. Look to them for any questions you might have.

  • Provide experiences like summer camp and high adventure outings (climbing, canoeing, and rappelling) that help us learn to become better leaders in our community.
