Camp Kerr - Trip Highlights

Posted on Sep 30 2019 - 10:51am

The retrospective on the Troop's recent campout from our historian, Mr. Nick Foshee.....

Our first camp out at Kerr Scout ranch was a blast. We were blessed with the beautiful scenery all around us and the weather. This camp out we were very focused on working on and building relationships with in our patrols. With cooking competitions and patrol time scouts got to know each other and there patrol leaders.

While out there scouts were able to hike rainbow rock as well as climb through it. Everyone was also able to enjoy a day on the water with canoeing and kayaking. We also had an adventure down at slippery falls, and some boys enjoyed learning how to and participating in a bit of fishing. All in all great first camp out guys.

And now, the pictures...

Camp Kerr Last Minute Update

Posted on Sep 20 2019 - 12:44pm
Information to all the Scouts and adults that are going camping with the troop this weekend.

Formup is Friday at Trinity Bible Church at 5:30 PM. Please be on time. If you are used to arriving to form-up a little later, be aware the troop hopes to depart by 6:15 since this is a longer drive to camp.

It looks like there could be rain at formup and at Camp Kerr upon arrival Friday, so your scout needs to be prepared for that. Although we always monitor the weather and will take appropriate safety precautions in the event of severe weather, please know that the Troop camps in rainy/cold/windy weather.  Campouts will not be canceled/changed for those kinds of weather events.

Packing reminders:
Rain gear
Swim trunks/towels/water-shoes if your scout will play in water at camp.
Fishing gear if your scout is interested in fishing
Headlamp/flashlight (no electricity at campsites)
Double check the packing list provided with the permission slip for other normal items
