Thanks to all who helped out with the Memorial Day Flag distribution. With such an abundant show of support we were able to make short work of the routes. In fact, for a task that normally takes 2 to 3 hours, we were able to complete in about 90 minutes.
Please note, for the flags program, the troop works with the Canyon Creek Home Owners Association Flag Program to distribute flags for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day. As a result, the troop is able to raise money to help fund activities for the scouts by receiving a dollar for each flag installed.
However, the Troop also receives another dollar for every flag retrieved and stored. For this reason, we have another fund raising opportunity this weekend. One thing that was made clear after the great show of support this past Saturday, is that the more people that volunteer the less time it takes for all of us to get the job done.
Thus, please consider volunteering at TBC thisSaturday June 3 at 09:00 AM to retrieve flags for completion of the Memorial Day segment of the flags fund raiser. There will be donuts provided in the morning, and bottled water during the activity. We are usually completed within three hours, and will meet to wrap up the event with ice cream.
The patrols are responsible for filling the assigned volunteer spots. Please note, Scouts should wear their Class B uniforms or class A uniforms if they do not have a Class B uniform. Scouts sign up under their patrol leader. Adults can sign up to drive for their scouts patrol or under Freebird (adult) patrol. Also, scouts can use the time for community and school volunteer hours. If you cannot sign up on line, please contact Mark Young at 972-358-9005.
