One hundred years ago today on February 8, 1910, the Boy Scouts of America was formed. Trinity Bible Church is the home of Troop 1001 and is celebrating the Centennial in a visible way. With prominent frontage on Campbell Road in Richardson, directly across from the Richardson hospital, Troop 1001 set up a mock campsite and banner on Trinity's front lawn to promote Scouting and the troop. The display has been up all week leading up to the Centennial Day.

On Sunday, February 7, Trinity and many churches across the nation recognized the event as "Scout Sunday" with special observances. Troop 1001's new banner proclaims, "Be a man, join Scouting!" and displays BSA's "Timeless Values" logo. On last year's Scout Sunday, Trinity's senior pastor, Jeff Miller, referred to Scouting, quoting a 1993 court decision as "... one of the seedbeds of virtue that cultivate the sorts of citizens our nation so desperately needs.
