Boy Scout Troop 1001

Troop leaders have been monitoring the weather Friday afternoon and have determined that the potential for hazardous driving conditions on the way to the campsite this evening poses too much risk. Therefore, Friday evening's departure is cancelled.

There will be no camping this weekend, but the troop will still hold orienteering and derby races Sunday at the original location at Erwin Park in McKinney.

The troop will form up 8 am Sunday, January 31 at the former location of Bally's Total Fitness (now out of business), 110 W. Campbell Rd. in Richardson (map). The location is adjacent to Office Max, behind C&M Tires and across Alamo Drive from Half Price Books and Taco Cabana. No backpacks are necessary, but bring a water bottle and eat breakfast before you come.

Scouts will participate in orienteering exercises Sunday morning, eat a lunch prepared by the adults, and hold the derby races from 1 to 5 pm. Parents are invited to join us for the races. The site is about 30 minutes drive (map).

The troop will depart the site at 5:30 pm and arrive at TBC about 6 pm Sunday. The church is having a business meeting at the same time, so please park to the far northwest portion of the parking lot (toward the basketball court). Please also avoid entering the building. Parents should pick up their scouts promptly.

Any further updates will be published both by email and on the the troop Web site. Please check one or the other frequently during the weekend in case additional changes are required.
