Boy Scout Troop 1001

The Court of Honor is a semi-annual event at which Scouts are recognized for their achievements in Scouting, especially rank advancement and merit badges. Family and friends are always welcome and are encouraged to attend.

The fall 2008 Court of Honor will be held the evening of Monday, December 8 at Trinity Bible Church. A catered dinner will be available before the ceremony for nominal cost. An electronic invitation, an "evite," will be sent to all Troop 1001 families the week of November 24. Be on the lookout for yours; your prompt response will help us plan.

There is always a mad rush to complete advancement requirements before the COH. In addition to skills learned, advancement to each rank requires a Scoutmaster Conference and a Board of Review. Opportunities for these face-to-face meetings are limited and Scouts are strongly encouraged not to wait until the last minute to arrange them.

Mr. Coon will be available before each meeting for Scoutmaster Conferences.

Boards of Review will be convened as required for Tenderfoot through First Class candidates. Candidates for Star and above must take the initiative to make arrangements for a BOR in advance with Mr. Miller. Don't wait until the last minute! Many others will be competing for limited time slots.

Scouts are reminded that the full Class A uniform must be worn for Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review, including BSA shirt, pants, socks, belt, and neckerchief. The Scout Handbook must also be presented at both.

To receive rank advancement or merit badges at the COH, the BOR must be completed and books or blue cards submitted to the advancement committee by December 1, 2008 at 9:00 PM.
