New Parent and Adult Leader Alert!

All Scouts deserve trained leaders

If you are ready to begin Adult Training, but are unfamiliar with the process, please consider the following.

There are a handful of on-line training certificates you can accomplish from your personal computer at your convenience. Two starters are mandatory for all adult leaders: Youth Protection Training and Fast Start Training. After those, the District recommends This is Scouting (formerly New Leader Essentials) and Boy Scout Leader Specific Training. There are typically a group of classroom sessions available once each Fall and Spring. Additional opportunities are available at some campouts.

To begin, use the online training available at www.northtrail.org to complete Youth Protection Training, Fast Start Training, and This is Scouting. (Note: After any training is completed, please bring or send a copy of your dated certificate of completion to the Troop Training Chair, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .)

trained_patchFurther, the Troop Committee strongly encourages our newer parents to attend Adult Leader Specific Training.  This gets you the coveted "Trained" patch along with bragging rights and real skills to bring back to the Troop. Ask adult leaders wearing the patch about this experience. You can do it!

Taking these courses does not commit you to any leadership role, but will greatly increase your understanding of the Troop structure and the work the committee does. The North Trail District does a good job at these sessions and it is worth the time spent.
