Update September 12, 2008: Editors note: due to resource conflicts at Sid Richardson Scout Reservation, the September 19-21 campout has been moved to Camp Wisdom in Dallas. If you've already downloaded a permission form, please download the updated version.

  Be Prepared!

  • Bring $10 for campout meals
  • Bring a signed permission form for the campout

scoutmaster_patch_color Hello all Scouts and Scouters,

We learned the importance of a Plan B at this week's meeting. The rain kept us inside the church. Thank you to Andrew M, Carter B, and Mr. Reisinger for the high adventure presentations. Troop 1001 was well represented this summer at Philmont and Seabase. Many scouts showed interest in future trips thanks to your presentations.

The scouts used their time well making meal plans for the campout September 19-21 at Sid Richardson Scout Reservation near Bridgeport Camp Wisdom in Dallas. Those meal plans should be emailed to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it The next meeting is Money Monday! All scouts and scouters planning to attend the campout should bring $10 for food and a signed permission form.

Patrols should be continuing to work on their Flags, cheers and songs. Senior Patrol Leader Richard H. has requested that each patrol have a flag to fly over its canoe at the upcoming campout. I look forward to seeing your creativity in action.

The First Aid merit badge class continues at 6:00pm Monday night with Mr. Reisinger. If you did not attend last week, it is not too late to join. This is an Eagle required merit badge and Mr. Reisinger does a great job with the class. Come learn from the best.

The God and Country class will begin this Monday from 6:00 to 7:00pm. This is an award that is a great way to learn the importance of the twelfth point of the scout law: a scout is reverent. All scouts planning to earn this special achievement should bring $5 to pay for the class materials.

We have three scouts committed to being Den Chiefs this year. The Den Chief is a critical member of the Scouting Leadership Team. There is limited class space for Den Chief Training held Saturday 9/27/08 10:00AM. If your scout is planning to be a Den Chief please sign him up for this important class on-line.

Two scouts stepped up to fill important positions last week. Skyler M. will serve as Webmaster and Maron W. will be our new Scribe. The PLC is still looking to fill the role of OA Representative and Cottonwood Chair, step up gentlemen!

We need a few scouts that will not be in the First Aid or God and Country class to come early to the church to help fill water balloons for the meeting activity. Weather permitting we will be launching H20 balloons with devices built from our pioneering expertise.

I look forward to seeing you all at Trinity Bible Church Monday night.

Yours in Scouting,
Scoutmaster Coon
