pl_patch_color Camporee is coming up on April 4-6. Before then, however, we still have one more meeting. This coming Monday is Money Monday, and everyone needs to bring $10 and the permission form. During this meeting we will work on our finishing touches to get ready for Camporee, work on menus, and see the skit that Richard's patrol will be performing at Camporee. Patrols need to remember to bring their flags!

After next Monday is Camporee. Everyone going needs to have a FULL Class A, including a shirt, belt pants/shorts, patches, neckerchiefs, and a Troop 1001 hat and patch. Every patrol needs a flag!

pl_patch_color We had a great Camporee-Prep campout last weekend, and we are looking forward to Camporee coming up on from April 4-6. All the patrols need to work on their flags, songs, yells, and patches for Camporee. Those extra points are really helpful. All scouts need to be absolutely positive that they have a full Class A and a Troop 1001 hat. These hats let everyone know who we are.

There is no meeting during Richardson's spring break, but there will be one on March 24 and 31. At the March 24 meeting, we will be working mainly on orienteering. Everyone needs to bring a compass with him to the meeting. Also done at this meeting will be finding our pace, working on the special events, and taking inventory of tents and chuck-box materials.

Then for March 31, we will be working on Pioneering. We will also get to see Richard's skit that he will be performing at Camporee. There will also be work time and then time to work on camp gadgets.

pl_patch_color There is a campout this weekend, March 7-9. This is our Camporee-Prep campout to get us ready for Camporee. What we will be doing this campout is basically a Camporee competition between patrols. All the events that will be in Camporee will be at this campout. Patrols will be given points based on group participation, how well you did the challenge, and enthusiasm.

All the patrols need to be at TBC at 5:30 PM on Friday or earlier. Everyone needs to check the weather and pack for the weather to be warm and dry on this campout. Don't forget your permission slip, unless you already turned it in Monday.

After the campout, all the patrols need to get all their yells, songs, flags, and patches ready to score extra points at Camporee, which can make a big difference. Also, if you don't have your full Class A, you need to get it soon, before Camporee, so that you won't stick out with jeans when everyone else is wearing Scout pants.

Don't forget: 5:30 PM or earlier on Friday!

pl_patch_color The meeting plan for next Monday, the third of March, is to work on another Camporee skill that everyone definitely needs to know, which is firebuilding. Patrol leaders will be gathering firewood (small sticks) throughout the week to be prepared for Monday. Also, each patrol will be working on their menus.

The Pre-Camporee campout is March 7-9 at Collin County Community Park Myers Park near McKinney. Basically, the whole campout will be a slightly-altered Camporee. It will be like a big, long, round-robin with adults working with each site and each patrol needing to perform a specific task at each site. Points will be awarded, so it will be a competition between patrols to see who can do the best. Dead time will be spent doing "cope" courses for the patrols and maybe working on completing the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge for those who started it.

Camporee is just around the corner on April 4-5. All patrols need to be working on sewing on patrol patches and making their yells, songs, and flags so that every patrol can get those few extra points at Camporee just by singing a song or yelling.

pl_patch_color Next Monday will be focused on Pioneering and tying knots necessary for Pioneering, which we will use when we need to make shelters for Camporee. Everyone needs to wear their full Class A, including a neckerchief, belt, socks, and patrol patches. Also, every patrol needs to be bringing its flag to each meeting.

The Camporee Prep campout is coming up on March 7-9 and Camporee is on April 4-6. Everybody needs to find out if they can go to both as soon as possible so that they can let their patrol leaders know. If you do happen to have a conflict, try your hardest to go to Camporee because the more people we have, the better.

Scouting for Food is this Saturday the 16th. People that are participating need to be at the church by 8:30 am. This counts as service hours, so it would be a really good idea to go! Everyone needs to plan on going unless they have a conflict. If you do, just drop off a bag of cans at the church at 8:30.

pl_patch_color Camporee is coming up in early April, which means that almost all upcoming meetings and campouts will be devoted to preparation. The next campout is fully Camporee Prep, which will have many stations preparing us for Camporee so that we can take home the trophy again this year.

This coming meeting will have troop inspections, meaning that every scout must wear his full Class A, including a neckerchief, belt, and socks. It's a good idea for everyone to have a full Class A so that we will impress everyone at Camporee. After inspections, there will be a round robin with each station teaching a different Camporee skill that we need to know.

Patrols need to be working on patrol yells, songs, patches, and flags for Camporee. Every patrol's flag should be finished and brought to the next meeting. Having yells and songs could bump up your patrol's score at Camporee.

Because of recent events, the leadership and adults have decided that Troop 1001 needs to clean up it's language. Remember: a Scout is reverent.

pl_patch_color The Report to State campout is this weekend. Everyone that is going must be at the church at 5:15 or earlier on Friday. The bus leaves at 6:00, leaving behind anyone who isn't on the bus at that time. Saturday morning will be spent on the parade to the capital. The afternoon will be spent spelunking. This campout is great if you want to knock off the Geology or the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge (Citi. in the Nation is Eagle Required). We are planning to return from 12:30 to 1:00 on Sunday, just in time for the Super Bowl.

Remember to bring all your camping gear, since we will be camping in tents this campout. Also, bring your FULL CLASS A!! This is very important because we want the whole troop to look good, and if there is one person without a neckerchief or Scout pants, they will stand out. There is a DVD player on the bus, so anybody can bring an appropriate movie if they want to. And do not forget a sack dinner for the bus ride because the bus will not stop anywhere until we get to Austin. Remember: FULL CLASS A! Pants, shirt, socks, belt, and neckerchief. Do not forget it.

Coming up soon is Camporee, but before then, we must have our Camporee Prep campout and meetings. The Monday after the campout is a PLC only at 7:00, but the following Monday is going to be a round-robin with all the activities that we must do at Camporee.

Remember to be at the church at 5:15 sharp and don't forget your full Class A! See you there.

pl_patch_color There is a campout this weekend, though the length is different this time. We will leave at the usual time on Friday and come back on Saturday at 7 pm. Everyone must be at the church on Friday at 5:30 pm so that we can leave on time. This is our derby car campout, so make sure that your patrol's car is finished and that you have transportation for it. [Editor's note: adult leaders will provide transportation of the derby cars from TBC to the campsite.]

Derby cars will start after lunch. We will be spending the dead time between breakfast and lunch to play capture the flag and go over Camporee Prep, so remember to bring your Scout book. For the younger scouts, many of the Camporee Prep things that we will do are also advancement requirements.

Do not forget that there is no meeting the following Monday. There will only be a PLC, and people that go to the PLC should wear their Class B. There will be a regular troop meeting on the 28th of January, which will be our only meeting before the Report to State campout.

Don't forget to be on time this Friday and do not forget your derby car. The weekend would be very boring without it.
