Troop 1001 is paid by the Canyon Creek Neighborhood Association to distribute and pick up flags for special holidays. We will be distributing flags Saturday, Sept. 4 and pick them up on Saturday, Sept. 11 .
If you could help on either or both weekends, please sign up at the Scout meeting on Monday, Aug. 30. We will need some parent drivers as well. We will meet in the TBC parking lot 8:30 am. We should be finished around 11:30 or 12:00. We may have a fun activity afterward.
Thanks.

The first troop meeting of the fall season is 7 to 8:30 pm Monday, August 30 at Trinity Bible Church. Scouts and parents should attend to learn about the exciting plans your leaders have made for this year.
Remember that troop meetings are scheduled for 7-8:30 pm Mondays except following a campout and during the summer months. Patrol leaders and other Scouts with positions of responsibility meet 7-8:30 on the Monday following each campout and also briefly after each troop meeting.

While not required for Eagle Scout, the God and Country Award is one Scouts are encouraged to earn. Trinity Bible Church offers the Protestant version of the award, and we will hold eleven (11) class sessions, all at 6 pm on Mondays, in September, November and January. It is strongly recommended that Scouts be First Class before starting the program. Download the information sheet for details. If you are interested, contact Mr. Frank.

Hello Troop Committee and Parents:
I hope everyone has had a good summer and is ready to have a great scout year!
The PLC had a good planning session this past weekend and our SPL would like to present the plan for the year for committee approval as soon as possible.
I would like to have a short meeting primarily for the above purpose at GDX this Saturday. We would plan to start at 8:30pm. Following the meeting we plan to have a training session on the committee yahoo group and how to use it and time to discuss different roles and responsibilities for the year.
If any of you would be able to stay for the night please let me know (before I have to start calling looking for volunteers).
All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend troop committee
meetings. Your perspective and support will make our troop better for all.
YiS

Former scoutmaster and ongoing supporter of Troop 1001 Ken Raney, Jr. and his wife Carolyn proudly display three new flagpoles at their ranch, Quail Alley. The poles were a gift of Troop 1001 to the Raneys for their long support of the troop, especially for hosting an annual campout at Quail Alley.

(address to both) to volunteer. We really need your help.
Background: Troop 1001 supports a community service and fundraising program sponsored by the Canyon Creek Homeowners Association and the Richardson Central Rotary
Club in which they lease flags to residents for five flag-flying holidays each year. The troop handles distribution and collection of the flags in a portion of the neighborhood in exchange for a portion of the lease fee, making it a fundraiser for the troop as well. For more information, see Troop 1001 Participates in Community Flag Program.

It was a great summer camp! We had 41 scouts earn 127 merit badges and complete partial requirements on 47 more. There were countless achievements earned towards rank advancements by our scouts in the Soaring to Eagle program
I would like to thank all the other adults that gave of their time M. Saverline, W. Caldwell, J. Danen, K. Hollifield, R. Hyder, S. Reyes, M. Reisinger, R. Graff, J. Kennedy, D. Wakefield, C. Roberts
Along with the scouts, the adults also were in some classes. We had several take First Aid, CPR and Wilderness First Aid, in addition to various BSA leader classes.
We celebrated three birthdays at camp: D. Wakefield, J. Roberts and M. Danen.
After the internet problems at camp were resolved, several more photos were been uploaded to the Yahoo group (this is accessible only to the summer camp families who subscribed to the group).
Yours in Scouting,
Rick Goad
