Training is done on the District , Council and
National levels. Most training will be done by our own North
Trail District .

All registered leaders should begin by taking Youth Protection Training- online
Fast
Start Training should be taken by all registered adults too, and is
available online
From there, one moves into live Basic Training, which has two parts:
1) New Leader Essentials: classroom training for any and all adult
volunteers and is a prerequisite for any further training.
2) Leader Specific: taken after New Leader Essentials and can take one of two courses:
a) Scoutmaster/Asst
.Scoutmaster training, taken along with Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills
training, and you will be considered "trained".
and/or
b) Troop
Committee training, with optional Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills Training, and you will be considered "trained"
For those who want to dig deeper, there is Water Safety training, Back Country
Advanced Training, KODIAK, COPE, Climb on Safety, Wood Badge... and monthly Roundtables , packed
with valuable information and program helps.
As an update, Our troop requires all adults who meet with youth to do a Texas DPS sex offender background check and furnish a printout indicating no problems to the troop records manager. This background check can be found here .
