			<title>Scoutmaster Update - April 30, 2008</title>
			<link>http://www.troop1001.org/content/view/285/82/</link>
			<description>

Hello all Scouts and Scouters,

Please pay special attention to this message. WE WILL BE MEETING AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION MONDAY, MAY 5.

In preparation for our May campout and upcoming summer camp, Monday night&amp;#39;s meeting
is a BSA swim test to be held at The JJ Pierce High School Natatorium. The school
is located at 1600 N. Coit Road south of Campbell road.

Monday night May 5th we will meet at 7:00pm at JJ Pierce High School Natatorium.
The pool is located in a separate building east of the main school building (see map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q hl=en geocode= q=32.9725+-96.7663+%28JJ+Pearce+Natatorium%29 ie=UTF8 t=h z=17 iwloc=addr)).
The natatorium may be approached from Senior Way, which runs on the north side of the campus.

Scouts should wear appropriate swimwear, footwear and bring a towel. Class B
shirts please. We will begin as soon after 7:00pm as possible. We should be able
to complete the test by our normal 8:30pm meeting end time. Adults planning to get
in the water in Galveston or at summer camp need to take the test as well.

There will be no Scoutmaster conferences, merit badge classes or Boards of Review
this week due to the new meeting location.

Highlights

Location is changed for Monday, May 5 meeting
We need all parents and scouts to pitch in at Cottonwood this weekend

There are a few seats remaining on the bus to Galveston, NASA and the Battleship Texas. Please contact
Mr. Watts to sign up for the trip if you have not done so and plan to attend. Signups are also due for summer camp.

It is all hands on deck this weekend for the Cottonwood Arts Festival fundraiser.
We ask that each family contribute a minimum of 8 hours time to this important event.

Paul D.&amp;#39;s Eagle project continues on Saturday. If you are not planning to be at
Cottonwood on Saturday please consider helping Paul complete this important project
on the church grounds. Starting time 9am, finish when the remaining sand has been
relocated. Bring gloves, a shovel, water bottle, sunscreen and a burning desire to
get &amp;#39;er done.

Scout Show tickets are selling fast. Please continue to sell this great moneymaker
for your account with the troop. Contact Mr. Chrisman if you need additional tickets.

I look forward to seeing you at Cottonwood park this weekend and at JJ Pierce
Natatorium Monday night.

Yours in Scouting,
Scoutmaster Coon

			<title>Troop 1001 Clothes Closet</title>
			<link>http://www.troop1001.org/content/view/284/82/</link>
			<description>
Recycled Uniforms

Scout Uniform Deal!

Switchbacks scout pants are 2 for the price of 1 at Scoutfitters (component/option,com_bookmarks/Itemid,29/task,view/id,12/) and online (http://www.scoutstuff.org/BSASupply/ItemDetail.aspx?cat=01RTL ctgy=PRODUCTS c2=UNIFORMS c3=SBSALE c4= lv=3 item=900SBP) through May 15, 2008.

Kathryn Mohn has gone through the troop uniform closet and
made a list (component/option,com_bookmarks/Itemid,29/task,view/id,105/) of what we have on hand, including gently used Class A uniforms, hiking
boots, and two backpacks. Please feel
free to come in and check the closet for items that your scout can use. Also, if you have any uniforms that your
scout has outgrown and that are gently used (no holes, ripped off pockets, etc.&amp;mdash;after
all, we are a first class troop!), please bring those in and we&amp;#39;ll pass them on
to other scouts. A scout is thrifty!

Troop 1001 Branded Gear

Mrs. Mohn has also made a list (component/option,com_bookmarks/Itemid,29/task,view/id,106/)
of the Troop 1001 branded items. We extend an invitation to the new scouts joining our troop
to come in and purchase your Class B T-shirts, 1001 number patches and neckerchiefs. We have 4 caps left; we are looking at a new
design that we will hopefully be ordering
soon, but you may want to buy now in case new supplies don&amp;#39;t arrive before
summer camp.

Lost Found

We have a lot of lost and found items from various campouts, etc. Please check through the pile
during the next few weeks to see if you recognize any of these, then take them
home. Items which are not claimed by the
end of the month will be up for grabs; any left over items will be given to
charity. Thanks!

<title>Sign up Early for Memorial Weekend Trip</title>
			<link>http://www.troop1001.org/content/view/275/82/</link>
			<description>

Trip Highlights

Four day, three night bus trip

	Our favorite driver, Gus!
	Galveston beach
	NASA Space Center Houston
	Sleep on the Battleship Texas
	San Jacinto Battlefield
	Sign up (files/stories/permission_forms/campout_permission_form_2008-05-23.pdf) now!

The new school calendar may not be your favorite act to come out of Austin
but it has had one good consequence for Troop 1001. Because Memorial
Day comes before the end of the school year, we are able to schedule
a big, fun camping trip over the long weekend. It&amp;#39;s such a big deal
that now is the time to put it on your calendar and make your reservation.
So read on about this exciting opportunity.

The Memorial day weekend trip to Galveston is rapidly approaching. This
will be the biggest and the best trip of the year! The date for departure
from TBC via Lone Star Coaches bus is 6:00 PM Friday, May 23rd. We will
travel direct to Galveston State Park and stay in screened in shelters
on the bay side of Galveston Island. We will spend Saturday on Galveston
Island&amp;#39;s West Beach. The park has bathrooms, showers and electricity
next to our shelters.

Sunday morning we will depart for NASA for an afternoon of fun at Space Center Houston.
Sunday afternoon we depart to the Battleship Texas for an overnight stay on the actual
battleship that served in World War II. We will get a VIP tour and see a movie about
the history of the ship. The ship has air conditioned bunks for 50 people. The ship
provides breakfast before we depart from the adjacent San Jacinto Battlefield. Monday is Memorial
Day and we will be in the spot where Texas won it s independence from Mexico. How cool is that?

We should arrive back at Trinity Bible Church by 6:00 PM on Monday.

The cost for the three day all inclusive bus trip, lodging, and food is
only $100.00 per person. Spaces are limited to the first 50 people who sign up, so make your payment and reservation (files/stories/permission_forms/campout_permission_form_2008-05-23.pdf) early to assure you have a spot.
